RRootage is a clean conversion of the same game I’ve played on the Mac countless times over the years, and while it’s nichey and I don’t expect that a large swath of iPhone users will find it appealing, it’s one of those hallmark games that having on your iPhone or iPod touch definitely puts you in a rarified class of gamer. And, finally, GW mode, which shmup enthusiasts should recognize as inspired by the Gigawing series, has you charge up your shield by keeping a second finger on the screen. And in that game mode, your special ability changes the color of the absorbed bullets from blue to red and back again. Other colored bullets will wear the shield down. Ika mode-inspired by one of my very favorite shmups for the Sega Dreamcast game console called Ikaruga-lets you absorb bullets that are the same color as your shield. The special mode builds up a shield that lets you quickly rebuild your defenses. rRootage takes the shoot u2019em up game and distills it down to its essence, replacing the usual eye candy with abstract geometric shapes and objects. The game featured multiple modes: normal, Psy, Ika and GW. Psy mode-inspired by a Japanese arcade game series called Psyvariar-introduces the concept of “scratching” or “bullet grazing.” When your ship grazes a bullet, a gauge at the bottom of the screen builds up when it’s full, you have temporary invincibility. ABA Games is a Japanese video game developer, composed solely of game designer Kenta Cho. You have a special function at your ability that’s activated by using multi-touch-a smart bomb that destroys any bullet within a radius around your ship. rRootage was released by ABA Games in 2003 and features 4 gameplay modes which mimic other popular shooters such as Ikaruga and Giga Wing. Short: A great Japanese abstract shoot 'em up: Author: Kenta Cho, AmigaOS 4. Normal Mode is the standard game mode, and it makes you focus on avoiding the boss’ barrage while attempting to destroy it with your laser. rRootage is a freely downloadable shoot-em-up from ABA games that features vector-graphic enemies and complex, procedurally-generated bullet patterns. And unlike many of the other arcade-style games available for the iPhone, there really is a big difference in modes. PSY Mode As your ship grazes a bullet, the graze meter (displayed at the right-down corner) increases. Including music, SFX, online hi-scores and achievements. So there’s a lot of challenge to rRootage. Kenta Chos legendary shooter rRootage ported and optimized for iOS 4 different modes, 160 stages total. The game features four different modes of gameplay, each with 40 stages to complete, and five levels in each stage.
